One of the most beautiful
place in Offida, the ex Monastery of San Francesco
in the heart of the historic centre, hosts
the Regional Winery of Marche.
The ex Franciscan convent of San Francesco
is situated in G. Garibaldi street close to
Bergalucci square, previously known as S.
Agnese.
The building, the greater part of which being
in ruins, highlights the ancient structure
of a medieval castle.
Just inside the said structure, in the first
half of the sec. XIII, the ancient monastery
was opened. It was passed on to the Clarisse
sisters in 1245 and in 1554 to the Franciscan
brothers.
The decision of the citizens of Offida to
locate the headquarters inside the Chiostro
of San Francesco, was not a random one.
Placed on the hills of Piceno is the production
area of the DOC Rosso Piceno, Rosso Piceno
Superiore and Falerio.
The town links, its own historic-cultural
roots to the wine enjoying a strategic location
of equal distance from the Adriatic coast
as from the mountains.
